Live Poker Games
I'm definitely better playing Texas Hold'em live.
After not such a great November due to me spending alot less time in live poker games and alot more time in online games, December is going pretty good. I've managed to win consistently and well when playing poker often & live so I really think that my game is definitely face to face. Playing online is too much like my job as a computer programmer so I really don't think its me. So why do I think I'm able to do in person what I can't do on a computer?
Live casino poker offers fewer hidden variables:
For instance people who know each other playing at the same table. Its ALOT harder to determine that piece of information so collaborating is easy for people. Play style is also much different and you have no way to categorize players in a short period of time. So in effect you have to play tight, aggressive and somewhat "brainless" poker. I honestly haven't been able to pick up on everything that dictates a winning strategy but have been told that I should move past $1/$2 blinds in order to play more effectively. Playing online felt to me like playing a $3-$6 limit poker game down at the local casino. Having sets and big pocket pairs regularly cracked by j8o isn't something that happens to me so much even late weekend nights at the casino. Of course I can case players better there and people do likewise with me.
I had originally thought online play was tight?
But getting constantly out-flopped was pretty sickening. I tend to think that you have to raise pretty sick pre-flop in order to run out players. Perhaps higher limits make this strategy work better?
