BBQ Ribs on the Pit

I tried looking up a way to cook bbq ribs about a week ago and couldn't find anything just plain and simple. They all involved boiling, strange cooking devices, not bbq, etc, etc. However through putting a bunch of stuff together and some general good luck I was able to come up with a good rib recipe that my family enjoyed.

  • 10 lbs ribs
  • 1 bottle stubb's hot marinade
  • 1 bottle stubb's bbq sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

Cut as much of the fat off the ribs as you can. Put the ribs in a large container while getting them all well covered with stubb's marinade, oil and brown sugar. Fill the container with water so as all the ribs are underwater. cover your container and throw it in the refrigerator overnight.

Light your pit and then spread your coals out around the sides of the pit so that no coals are in the center. Place a small tin of water in the center to preserve moisture of the ribs while cooking. Your pit should be between 200-240 degrees.

Cook your ribs for around 2 1/2 - 4 hours turning once every hour and basting with the marinade. During the last 30 minutes apply the bbq sauce. Once they're done you'll have great zesty bbq ribs that everyone will love.
