Finding a hotel room in Baton Rouge, LABaton Rouge is a pretty sprawling city and things don't always make sense. For example when you get off a plane at the Baton Rouge airport you're in the middle of no place in terms of where to get a good hotel room or even any real restaurants. In Baton Rouge theres a cheap hotel at most Interstate exits with a gas pump however if you're coming to stay here and need a decent Baton Rouge hotel then I'll put out a few suggestions based on my experiences living in Baton Rouge. I know alot of people who worked in the hotels around town so I've been to them and know which are in good areas.(only 2 good hotel areas in my opinion)College Drive area Baton Rouge hotels is probably the best hotel area for you if you're in town for an LSU game, work in any place other than downtown or just overnight from a flight. Many of the pilots who fly in and out of Baton Rouge stay at the hotels in this area because its the most accessible to the airport. Most notable are the Embassy Suites of Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Marriott and the Holiday End Select Hotel that are very close together and both have great restaurants and bars. There are also a host of night clubs, bars, stores and restaurants within walking distance of these hotels. There are at least two other hotels in this area and you'll be more than happy with your accomodations. Downtown Baton Rouge hotels there is really only the Sheraton of Baton Rouge. I don't know of any other hotels downtown other than this one which is connected to the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino. It puts you well within walking distance of the downtown bars and restaurants as well as right next door to the Baton Rouge centroplex. A great place to stay and you won't be bored for certain. There is the Atrium that has a bar, Churchills restaurant and Cigar bar, Shucks on the Levee, The Belle of Baton Rouge Casino and I don't even think you have to go outside from the Sheraton to get to them. The Sheraton is a fairly new place in an area of Baton Rouge getting alot of care and attention to make it into a hot spot for tourism as well as locals. Very nice and there are alot of events going on in the area over the weekends. I will also be listing good hotel information in the Best Baton Rouge hotels section of Best of Baton Rouge. |
