Memphis Tennessee 4th of July

We enjoyed a weekend on Beale Street.

Michelle and I got an opportunity to go exploring this 4th of July thanks to a friend who has been living in a Condo right on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. We've never been to Memphis so it was a great opportunity to go see what the Blues and BBQ is all about.

Beale Street Memphis

We had a great time hanging out and shopping on Beale street. They had lots of fun bars, restaurants and live music everywhere. The road is blocked off so you're free to walk around really freely. My favorite places were Club 152 and a place called Jillians which is actually a block off of Beale.

4th of July Fireworks

The fireworks show was absolutely wonderful in Memphis. Our friends condo was literally the best possible place to see the fireworks. I've never been close enough to a fireworks display to feel the blast from the shells. Memphis definitely does it right.

I met the Godfather of the Blues

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it on the Memphis Walk of Fame. When I checked out Memphis Music there was a man named Clyde Hopkins having a CD signing. I asked if it was his music on the radio and he says "yeah and that's my name right outside on the street!". Sure enough Mr. Hopkins had a note on the Walk with the moniker "Godfather Of The Blues". I had to buy a CD.

A great place to visit but boy I managed to spend some money there. I'll probably go back as Michelle and I both had a really great time.
