Michelle and I went and visited
Paragon Casino and Resort in Marksville Louisiana this weekend. We
purchased a room for one night and played the various table games, slot
machines and one poker tournament. Overall it was a pretty decent time even
though I only like to play poker!
The table games were fun for me because I'm not big into that sort of thing but Michelle likes to do it. The limits are really low so you can play for a long time on a small amount of money. I like that because I'm not huge on all these casino games where the house always has the edge. So you can play with a little money, maybe win a little or maybe lose a little. But no big deal. If you're a poker player like me you probably want to pass on this place. They have a decent little poker room but the only game anyone is playing there is a 4-8 limit game. There was only one no limit game that only lasted a few hours. Nobody wants to play it there. This is probably due to the fact that most people who go to this casino are 50+ years old and not into that game like the younger generations of today. The hotel wasn't all that great at all. The room was large but the building isn't very insulated so you can hear EVERYTHING going on around you. People banging on doors next door or downstairs sound like they're at your door. The pipes make all kinds of sound. They're renovating and building some new big buildings next to the hotel which I believe are an addition. Will I go back? Probably not. I'd much rather go spend time at Harrah's in New Orleans if I have to go to a casino. Definitely not worth the drive especially with L'Auberge Du Lac Casino & Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana or you can drive to newly rebuilt Mississippi. Jerry W Odom Jr. |
