UFC 62 was a much anticipated card just because everyone wanted to see
"The Iceman" Chuck LIddell back in action. I was excited because
Sobral has been fighting smart and should've come in with a good strategy on
how to deal with the Iceman.
Wrong Sobral did exactly what you don't do against a guy like Liddell, run at him punching. Why did he approach it like this? We might never know but after all his training you would've thought he'd gone in there with a plan to get Chuck down to the ground. I thought it was a pretty sorry fight on Sobral's part with Chuck Liddell doing what he does best. Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar None of the fire we saw in the first fight between these two. They came out and slugged yes but not with the urgency that they gave in the first fight when so much was on the line. They talked afterwards about a third fight and I think that should be reserved for a cable tv event on Spike TV. Nick Diaz vs. Josh Neer Nick Diaz just never seems like he cares about getting to the top of his game but boy he looked good fighting the ultra tough Josh Neer. Diaz is a really tough guy but seems to go out there and not really give it his all in the ring. If he were to put together a really serious run he could be a contender but he seems to prefer flipping off the cameras and just getting paid to scrap. Thats fine with me because he's good at it. I'm really looking forward to UFC-63 with BJ Penn stepping in against Matt Hughes. I think we'll finally get past this string of bad title fights with a quality rematch between these guys. Can't wait. In addition..After that great fight between Parisyan and Sanchez its about time for Diego to put it on the line against the champ. He's got time to wait with Penn and St. Pierre chomping to get ahold of Hughes but after that great battle its time.! |
